With this inaugural blog post, we are happy to announce the launch of our new program, Public Health Prepared (PHP). PHP is the workforce development and public health practice branch of the broader Michigan Center for Infectious Disease Threats & Pandemic Preparedness (MCIDT) initiative housed at and funded by the University of Michigan.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about unprecedented changes to the way we live, work, and play. It has highlighted health disparities and inequities, and brought public health to the forefront of mainstream conversation. The public health, health care, and academic research professional communities have demonstrated resilience, determination, innovation, and curiosity in their continued efforts to improve population health.
Our goal is to contribute to these ongoing efforts by offering training that advances strategic skills and promotes a feedback loop between research and practice. Training will address not only the COVID-19 pandemic, but other emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, communicable diseases, and outbreak investigations.
We invite you to subscribe to our newsletter to stay connected, and look forward to engaging with you!
Sincerely,
Laura Power, MD, MPH, Director
